Darn it all!
I am leaving town this weekend, so will not get a chance to attend this! If you go, please take notes and tell me about the highlights (via PORT):
Brain Awareness 2k9: OHSU’s The Right Brain Initiative is hosting a lecture on learning, the arts, and the brain next week. The panel discussion will be moderated by John Frohnmayer, former chairman of the NEA. Featured speakers include two...

What is going on, Portland?
I am officially depressed.
Oh, and my official stance on whether or not Sam...
I agree with Steve Duin, who wrote this piece for the Oregonian (“Don’t Give Up, Sam, Without a Fight”). We should have a recall. The major fault of this idea is that it would draw things out. But this way we could get the facts straight re: criminal charges and Sam could immediately get back to doing his job, knowing the actual people of Portland (as opposed to the...

I am getting SO worked up over this! And I can’t stop reading posts/articles and trying to make sense of my feelings about all the different aspects of this issue.
One thing I haven’t come across in any of the Sam supporters’ comments is any kind of understanding or empathy for people who think there’s something inappropriate about a 42 year old politician (or, just...

The first time I showed paintings in Portland (I think?) was in then-commissioner Sam Adam’s office in September of 2005. Apparently, this was just about the same time he was involved with Breedlove. Maybe they were ending things at this point. Regardless, I wish I could go back and give him a slap on the face and tell him to knock it off.
shooting star / exploding planet?
Did anyone else happen to witness an incredible shooting star / exploding planet phenomenon which took place last night sometime between 10:25pm and 10:45pm for approximately 1.5 seconds? OR, does anyone know of a website which records such incidents and maybe even explains them? This was the most amazing shooting star I’ve ever seen — a rocket across the sky that ended in a BOOM of...

From coolrunning.com:
You should be able to run this schedule for four to five weeks without much discomfort before starting the 5K program. If not, give yourself some time to build up to that level gradually, or you may risk injury.

loft apt. dream
Weird:
I used to live in a six-plex off Belmont and 29th with my friend Tanyia. Out of the four homes I’ve made for myself in Portland, it was my favorite. Just once I got a glimpse of the loft apartment above ours, then occupied by an artist/waitress. I LOVED this loft. Slanted ceilings, skylights, perfect location, so so cozy and sweet.
Randomly, I just logged onto craigslist to, you...
