yep, I was out driving around today
I saw:
Two stuck trimet busses.
One stuck tow truck.
Lots of stuck little-cars with no chains (not smart!).
Lots of crazy people walking in the street while big-ass cars slipped and slid right by them. I understand that the sidewalks aren’t shoveled, but people, please! Use common sense! Get out of the way when a truck is sliding toward you!
Also: If you live in Portland AND are...
tell your doctor "no"
Back in October, I came down with some weird flu/parasite/I-don’t-know thing, and was pretty darn ill for over a week. I finally went to see a doctor, which is a big deal for me because I don’t have health insurance right now (soon, though!). The doctor asked me a few simple questions (Have you eaten any questionable dairy lately?), and then sent me to the lab. They did a few tests,...
interesting fact about flu shots
I am contemplating getting my very first flu shot this year (tomorrow, actually). Here’s what I found out on the Inernet about flu shots:
People who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs should not get a flu shot without contacting their doctor first.
Weird!
This! This is the hair I want! Right here. But, alas, I am too much of a hairy beast, I think. My hairline drops way below my chin-line, so all attempts to get to something like this have failed miserably.

I love that my parents still flirt with each other
An e-mail from my mom, describing my Dad’s antics this morning:
“First he sneaks up on me when I’m in my bathroom and scares me so bad I scream.
Then he announces he’s going to take a shower while I dry my hair. So far OK. I go get the portable phone so I can hear it ring. He then insists he will wait until I’m done and tries to take the phone. I then insist I...
Shawn Creeden →
I adore Shawn Creeden’s animal drawings and embroideries. From what I hear, he makes all of his sketches while looking at real-life animals, either at the zoo or in nature (as opposed to sketching from photographs). A few of his pieces are available in Fontanelle’s newly launched online Parlour.
Why I am Not a Painter, by Frank O'Hara (1971)
I am not a painter, I am a poet. Why? I think I would rather be a painter, but I am not. Well,
for instance, Mike Goldberg is starting a painting. I drop in. “Sit down and have a drink” he says. I drink; we drink. I look up. “You have SARDINES in it.” “Yes, it needed something there.” “Oh.” I go and the days go by and I drop in again. The...
nowdothis.com
I think nowdothis.com is neat. It inspired me to design my own page (in my head, of course) which would work better for me, at least for the fun activites in my life. It would display a number of lists. Mine would be:
1. Eat here (for restaurants, etc.)
2. Watch this (for movies)
3. Go here
4. Cook this
and maybe 5. Make this
It seems like I am always coming up with ideas for the next...
God is so Good (harmonica song)
Ha ha! There are lots of free harmonica lesson sites out there as well. Harmonica Country, for instance, has ten free beginner lessons, complete with songs to learn and practice. The first song they give you is God is so Good (you can listen to it here).
This song is hilarious!! Did anyone sing this in Sunday school or did the harmonica lesson people just make it up?
I mastered it on the...
harmonicalessons.com
Let it be known: I would like an annual subscription to harmonicalessons.com for Christmas. $34.95. I have always wanted to learn how to play the harmonica. Also, I just practiced playing “Blowing in the Wind” a couple times and I think I have talent.
I would give three toes to be able to play like this. (From both feet!) (six toes total)
Things I am supposed to do
1. Make a picture book of my friends’ pets.
2. Paint a portrait of Dalas Verdugo.
Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten!
